I can't believe the school year is almost over!

    Just a Reminder....

    EOG's Are Coming Soon
    May 15th
    May 16th
    May 17th

Keep reading with your child each night and work on math facts. We have been sending home practice items each week for students to work on at home. They are all due on Fridays.

Have a great Spring Break! See you all on April 16th!

We are beyond excited about our new addition to the classroom. The iPad cart has changed our learning environment. Students are using them daily to practice math facts, create vocabulary book projects, participate in online surveys and MUCH more. I never thought one device would make my students more engaged than they already were. It is amazing to watch them zoom through activities that normally would take one to two days to finish in less than an hour.

    We need your help!

We are working on our graphing unit in class. I have posted some Survey Questions on my blog. Students will be taking this data and creating graphs to display this information.

**Please feel free to help us by answering these survey questions. All you need to do is click on the blog tab at the top right of the screen. Then click on one of the Blue Survey Questions and add a comment. The comment will not show until I approve it! Thank you so much for your help!!

    Christmas Break is coming up!

We have our Reader's Theater Performances on December 22nd.

In October, the class helped me prepare a video application for a class set of iPads!

Thanksgiving Evening~ To be exact 9:45 pm while I was preparing for After Thanksgiving Shopping in the middle of Walmart, I received this email...

Which then had me go to another site where I had to scan a bar code to see if we had won the cart.

If you have a smart phone and the Scan or i-Nigma app, you can scan this to see if we won.

Luckily I was able to find someone else with a smart phone that would allow me to pull this email up on their phone and scan it with my phone. Here is what it said....

WoOOOOOOO Hoooooo!!!! We won!!! I want to thank each of my students for helping me conduct a "iPad Press Conference" that won our class an iPad cart!

In Science we have been learning about the Human Body. Here is a picture of one of my students dressed up as our skeleton. Students had to identify the bone and help Kelsey get the bone in the correct location.

I can't believe how fast this school year is going! We are already in the 2nd Quarter!

Just a quick reminder to check the What's Going On In Class page to see what we are doing each week as well as Upcoming Events at school.

Welcome Back to the 2011-2012 School Year!

We have already had a great start to the new school year.

They were asked to create an owl using pattern blocks. After creating the owl, they had to graph how many of each block they had. Below you will see some of the owl pictures they created. They are so creative!

    Have a WONDERFUL SUMMER!!!

I will see you all in August!

I am SUPER PROUD OF ALL OF MY STUDENTS!!!

Missing my students but am ready to learn some great new ways to use our technology.

DSC04977.JPGThank you for helping us Adopt a Puffin!! We raised close to $100!

We ended up having enough money to adopt a Puffin and a Harbor Seal!!!

The students are working on Puffin Trading cards that are full of facts about a puffin. We are also working on iMovie Projects about Puffins..
    Stay tuned for some examples.

    Math is So Much Fun!!!!

For our Fraction Unit, students had to hang clothes(t-shirts with fractions on them) on the clothesline in order like a number line. They were so excited to help me hang up my clothes to dry.

They thought learning about number line fractions and hanging up clothes to dry was fun...they were surprised when they got to GO FISHING FOR FRACTIONS.

They got to "Go Fishing" for fractions and decide if they were near 0, 1/2, or 1 by using fraction bars and what they know about fractions.

Projects from the 2009-2010 School Year

    Biography Projects

Students were asked to work in a group to create one of the following five projects on someone important or famous. They were given a choice to create a Numbers Document with pictures and text, Keynote Presentation, Podcast, iMovie, Green Screen iMovie. They had to research their person and find pictures online. They were taught how to properly cite their sources and make sure they put them in their project.

Here are a few pictures of the students working on their projects.

    ***Monday, March 15th
Students in Mrs. Moseley's Third Grade have paired up with our first math group, and Mrs. Gault's 4th Graders are paired up with our 2nd math group, to complete a Math Graphing Challenge. Students have to come up with a Survey question. They then had to come up with headings/subheadings for their questions. We then posted them on the Blog and asked other classes in our school and at Enochville Elementary to participate.

Here are a few pictures from today's brainstorming.
