A fantasy can have an animal character that does things people usually do. Julius drinks from a cup, dances, and watches movies late at night. A fantasy also has events that could not happen in real life. Julius and Maya go shopping together to try on clothes. Tell me about a fantasy story you have read that has an animal character that does things that could not really happen.

Our spelling words this week have the long vowel sound. Usually when a word ends in the silent e, it makes the vowel in the word make the long sound (it says its name). Can you think of other words that end in the silent e and have a long vowel sound? Tell me the word and the vowel sound.

9/09--The students are doing a wonderful job using the technology to help them learn in class!
Last week...
Health--They used Comic Life to show their feelings. They were able to take pictures of themselves with various expressions and write what makes them feel this way. They had a great time taking pictures of themselves!
Language Arts--The students practiced vowel sounds by playing a sorting game on the laptops. Then, they answered a question on our blog to show what they had learned about vowel sounds. They also created a story map using Kidspiration. They chose a book they had read and listed the title, setting, beginning, middle, and end. During reading groups, the students were able to listen to the story on their ipods and follow along in their books.
Math--We have been using the Promethean Board to practice addition and subtraction. The students have also played addition and subtraction games on Key Skills to reinforce these concepts.
