This year your third grade student will experience something that no other classroom in Rowan County will be experiencing ... a room completely filled with 21st Century Technology. There are 14 other 21st Century Classrooms in the Rowan-Salisbury School System, however they do not have the technology that we are privileged to have. How did we get this enormous blessing? ActivEpressions were provided by the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce as a result of me being selected the Rowan-Salisbury Schools’ Teacher of the Year for 2009 - 2010. These are free response systems students use to text answers in class. I have written a grant to assist with the cost of digital cameras I purchased. And I am piloting a REDCAT audio system. This system provides every student a “front-row seat” so they can clearly hear what is said in the classroom. Additional Teacher of the Year classroom funds will be provided by the Phillip J. Kirk Scholarship. As a 21st Century Classroom we have iPods, MacBooks, ActiVotes, an ActivSlate, a Promethean Board, a digital camcorder and headphones.
